Dakota’s Bio

I have not always liked writing. My executive functioning issues, migraines, and epilepsy made organizing my thoughts on paper extremely hard. Yet, I love to read and admire those who can write well. As I got older and took writing workshops, I grew in my writing ability. I found it an amazing tool for personal and public communication and influence. I developed a love for writing words, not only reading them, and I believe God would have me use this tool as I walk in my calling of Christian Ministry. I love academic writing, opinion pieces, and, most of all, writing on biblical issues. I believe writing is one of the best ways I can influence other people for Christ and fulfill my calling. I have won an essay competition for a full tuition scholarship from my college. As well, I made contributions to the Regent University Campus Ministries Newsletter.

I was raised in the D.C., Maryland, and Virginia area and have moved five times, although D.C is what I consider to be my true home. I have been a Christian since I was four years old and homeschooled throughout K-12. I have seven siblings, of which only one is a boy, so he is vastly outnumbered. Currently, I live and attend college in Virginia and am in love with the pace and people. I am double majoring in Christian ministry and psychology at Regent University. I am secretary of the psych club and active in campus ministries. I also work as a receptionist at Hilton. Outside work and volunteering, I love to read old novels and classic works. Les Miserables and Lord Jim are two of my favorite reads for their depth of thought and feeling. I religiously keep up with all things Star Wars and Marvel, no matter how busy my schedule is. My love story with the two sagas stretches back to my elementary years, and I foresee it continuing to my old age. I am an avid runner, and like Tabata, on days I feel energized. If you’re doing something outside or active, you can count me in, and if it’s something I haven’t done yet, then I’m already on my way.

Tess’s Bio

Since elementary school, Tess has always loved reading and writing, zipping through novels and penning her own stories. Written words are her form of art. Some people can run on a creative tangent when handed clay or a paintbrush; she would do the same with a sturdy No. 2 pencil.

Having achieved a bachelor’s degree in English from Florida Gulf Coast University and a master’s in journalism from Regent University, it is evident that Tess’s affinity for words simply made a cozy little home in her heart.

Tess is now a freelance writer and editor for various print and digital lifestyle magazines. She also works part-time as the content and marketing manager for Grit and Grace Life, a nonprofit community for women. She lives each day in faith, believing that God is always enveloping us in His perfect grace and love and is working to bring us where we are supposed to be, even if we do not understand it yet.

In her spare time, Tess loves traveling around the U.S., stopping into coffee shops and thrift stores, perusing the shelves at Barnes and Noble for hours, and enjoying family days with her best friend and husband, Ruben, and sweet cat, Molly.

She has received a bachelor’s degree in speech communication and a master’s in strategic communication, both from East Texas Baptist University. She currently works in the office of academic success, where she helps guide students as they work toward earning their degrees. She is also an adjunct speech instructor for ETBU. Klaire’s goal is to integrate faith and communication principles in her classroom. Klaire’s favorite part of working on a college campus is the unique and personal mission field it provides. Klaire meets and serves all kinds of students, teaching them communication principles and showing them how the Gospel changes lives. Klaire continues to follow God’s calling, pursuing a Ph.D. in communication studies from Regent University. Through this, she hopes that God will use her to transform the lives of college students for His glory.

Before entering university, she was already a believer for many years. She caught glimpses of God’s perfect grace throughout her life. However, she grew closer to God more and more while at university. She discovered a joy for ministry and missions as He tested her faith and answered her prayers.

We are so excited to welcome Klaire to our ministry team. We know she will provide a fresher and youthful perspective and be a true blessing to the SheBelieves Co. community.
