Happy 2023!

By Adrianna La Tortue

It’s the new year, so it is time for New Year’s resolutions or, some might say new commitments!

My commitment to having a better year and improving myself is a challenge. Let’s say resolutions are like a list that we can tackle; check each commitment off the list one by one. Consider keeping a list of your goals for the whole year. I know it’s hard, but when it comes down to it, it’s all about commitment. I like to think of my “resolutions” as my goals for the new year that will make me a better person and a stronger woman of God. For my 2023 resolution, I plan to read the entire Bible, from Genesis to Revelation.

I thought I was crazy when I decided on this big commitment. I’m sure some of you have also thought of resolutions you think you cannot accomplish. But that is where we are all wrong. Fortunately, there is a way to reach seemingly impossible goals. We may not think of it immediately, but there is one way that is a sure way to accomplish my apparent challenge. Our Father is waiting for us to call upon Him. He wants to help us achieve His will for our lives, so looking to Him for guidance and perseverance in achieving such goals is how you can fulfill your new commitments in 2023. Commit your 2023 goals to God!

One way of fulfilling my resolution is listening to each chapter of the Bible. I find it challenging to read something I want to take seriously, so I decided to listen intentionally; have it read aloud to me instead. As I listen, I think more deeply about everything I hear. I can understand and put my heart into it. Everyone has a method of their own, which is excellent! Figure out what works best for you. With the Lord’s help, you can read the Bible from cover to cover. Some other goals might be to try to eat healthier and be more active, start a new job, clean out the garage, or save money for a family vacation.

I hope to grow in my faith and relationship with God as I go through His Word in 2023. I’ve never completely understood the Bible, but now, I will. My New Year’s resolution is to move forward with God.

And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.

Romans 8:28 NKJV

I look forward to what He has in store for me. So should you, whether reading and studying His Word or taking a leap into uncharted territory when the Lord call’s on you.
