Remaining Connected

By Robyn Spradlin

Have you ever wondered how some people can stay focused on something continuously? Of course, we all have. These people have one goal in mind as they press forward with all of their might. While considering their single-mindedness, I had a passage of Scripture come to mind that I posted on Facebook. John 15:4 – 5 says,

“Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me. I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.” NKJV

What struck my heart was, “for without Me you can do nothing.” The people who concentrate on remaining in the vine are connected. That connection produces the ability to do all things. Philippians 4:13 states,

“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” NKJV

Because of Christ Jesus, we can do what God has called us to do when we remain vitally united to Him. We can see this from the Apostle Paul’s example in Philippians 3:14, when he declares,

“I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.” KJV

In verses 12 – 13, Paul explains his single-minded focus and its relationship to remaining vitally united and connected to the vine. Focusing on self-accomplishment is not the answer. However, remaining vitally united to Who has apprehended you changes everything. Until next time, ladies.
